Last Saturday, Rescue Ranch joined in the seasonal Howl-O-Ween family fun at D&S Harley Davidson Pet Day, in Medford, OR. Participating cat and dog rescues brought adoptables,. There were also prize drawings for costumed pets, a raffle, a silent auction, and, of course, Harleys!
Dogs of all shapes and sizes
Rescue Ranch set up the six larger dogs outside in the common area between the store and the service center: Doris, with the eye patch; Camille, the black shepherd; Wrangler, the brindle shepherd; playful terrier Bean with his blue toy, and GSD mixes Nei and Mochi. They all attracted a lot of interest and got a chance to socialize with attendees. Wrangler even got an application right there!
Meanwhile, indoors, we set up ex-pens with playful older puppies Mira, Zooey, Delilah, and Yak, as well as adult Chihuahua mixes Rue and Brownie. It was a great opportunity to exposure and socialization. Rescue Ranch’s Bill and Sue Doron sold tickets at the D&S raffle table.
Fellow dog rescue Goliath Mountain Rescue, was also outdoors, right across from Rescue Ranch, with some beautiful huskies and Shepherds who didn’t mind having their pictures taken. Two huskies, who were bunking together, really hammed it up for the camera.
D&S Harley Davidson Pet Day was for cats too!
Erin and Melody from Melly Cat Rescue brought lovely handmade cat toys in addition to their many wonderful adoptables. I wanted to take all the cats home too!
Black cat siblings Vinny and Tony, for example, were two very affectionate black kitties. Vinnie, enjoyed kneading biscuits through the playpen’s mesh. I learned that he has special health needs because of a virus he contracted when he was little. He’ll be on antibiotics for life and has lost the use of one eye. His condition hasn’t dampened his spirits, though, he just wants to be everybody’s best friend. His brother Tony, with a luxurious coat, is a handsome cuddle bug too.
They get along so well, I hope they’ll be adopted together. Their black coats, unfortunately, make them harder to place, and Vinnie’s needs add another hurdle. But, as with all of the cats, any adopter would be lucky to have them.
Who can resist a Howl-O-Ween Costume?
Many visiting dogs arrived in costume, including some Rescue Ranch alumni. Among them were Buddy, from the Pomchi hoarding situation. He’s now part of the D&S family. And Oliver who came with adopter Nicole, a vet tech at Ashland Animal Medical Hospital.
All the dogs were on their best behavior.
Also present, were our friends from Red Dog Pet Supply . Their Howl-O-Ween themed table was stocked with goodies and toys, and their red-vested dogs mingled with the crowd. The Locally owned, community minded, Figaro’s Pizza was selling huge slices for $2.50 from a table decorated with an arrangement donated by Bee Sweet Blooms for the occasion.
Rescue Ranch wants to thank organizers for inviting us to D&S Harley Davidson Pet Day, we had a great time!
