Thank you for your interest in being a Rescue Ranch Volunteer! Each dog that is at our facility gets individual attention each day. We simply couldn't operate our facility or provide the level of care for each dog without our faithful volunteers. We have many projects that volunteers can do! VOLUNTEER WELCOME VIDEO
EXPLORE VOLUNTEER OPPURTUNITIES
Please help us keep the dog's homes clean! Our volunteers and staff take pride in the cleanliness of the shelter both inside and out. A clean shelter keeps the dogs healthy and inspires visitors to stay longer and meet the dog perfect for their family. Tasks like laundry, dishes, and even poop scooping don't seem glamourous but are essential to the health and happiness of our dogs. Bonus an hour of time doing dishes or laundry is easy to fit into your morning schedule and means so much to the staff and dogs.
Active minds and bodies help reduce stress and bring joy to the dogs during their stay at the shelter. Help us by stuffing Kongs® with treats, making Pupsicles, playing tug, and fetch. Perhaps even teach yourself and a dog to do nose work or spend time with them engaging with a puzzle. Help enrich rescue dog lives by joining our team.
Happy dogs get adopted!
Join us for all types of events!
We participate in adoption events at Petsmart in Medford Oregon and other locations throughout the year. During these Covid-19 times, they are fewer so stay tuned for when they are going to happen.
Our goal is to make an adoption event team, and eventually be able to hold events every weekend at various locations in Northern California and Southern Oregon!
Events besides Adoption Events vary with the season, but they are always fun. Some of these events are to help raise funds for the shelter and some are to bring awareness to our community. If you are a people person and a dog person we would love to have you join our event team. Perhaps you will be inspired to suggest and plan an event of your own to help the dogs of Rescue Ranch.
When you foster a dog, you not only get a best friend to hang with at home! You also get a hiking partner, couch surfer, and cuddle buddy!

A typical day at Rescue Ranch.
Staff arrives early in the morning to begin and care for our ranch residents. Breakfast often includes a crock-potted roast prepared the night before and as a topping to their kibble. After the dogs have finished breakfast they are walked to their outside yards or playgroups. Some of the staff and volunteers spend the morning cleaning and sanitizing kennels inside and out, doing laundry and dishes. For more information on our cleaning practices click Cleaning Protocol.
Once cleaning is done, staff and volunteers walk, work on basic training and play with the dogs. Staff and volunteers also work on pairing dogs and putting together playgroups to help the dogs receive the exercise and mental stimulation they need to be healthy. Some staff and volunteers work on data entry, and maintenance while others work on administrative tasks; including answering e-mails and phone calls which is is an all-day task.
Rescue Ranch opens to the public at noon, staff and volunteers meet and work with potential adopters to find the right dog for them. By mid-afternoon, dogs are brought back to their inside kennels and begin to settle for the night. Dinner is served and toys for the night are handed out. If it's hot out, the dogs might get frozen Kongs or pupcicles too!
