Rescue Ranch Adoption Event Will Help More Pets This Spring

Join us for “Dog Days For Summer” on May 21, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get ready for a fun and unique community event. For the first time ever, we’re joining forces with mutiple rescue organizations. Our goal is to get more animals adopted and to call attention to the very real problem of unwanted pets. With your help, we can make it a success and this Rescue Ranch adoption event will help more pets this spring.

Adoption is the main attraction

“Dog Days For Summer” will be the first collaborative adoption event of its kind in Siskiyou County. In light of the skyrocketing number of unwanted pets in the county and beyond, participating rescues have decided to pool their efforts to save more lives. Most of the particpants, like Rescue Ranch, are dog rescues, but we’re happy to say that cats will be available too!

We hope that by cooperating, we’ll be able to find good homes for more animals. We also want to highlight the need for effective and affordable spay/neuter programs.

Overpopulation is a very real problem and the number of unwanted pets lingering in shleters is heartbreaking. Most people don’t realize how many rescues there are, or that they’re all full. Siskiyou County Animal Control intakes were already up 250% or more in January! No-kill rescues like ours are overflowing, meanwhile the kill lists down south are just getting longer.  If we want to give animals the wonderful lives they deserve, we must control over population and encourage responsible pet ownership.

Rescues will apply their own donation and adoption policies.

Donations and adoption policies at the event will vary by organization.  In the case of Rescue Ranch, the application will be the same as always, but the special “May only” adoption adult dog donation of $100 (reg. $150 – $200) will continue to apply at the event.

The discount is intended to promote adoption ahead of the summer months, when the long days and warm weather are perfect for new owners to bond with their dog. We encourage potential adopters to fill out an application ahead of May 21. Prequalifying as a Rescue Ranch adopter, will speed up the process for them if they find a match with one of our dogs at the event.

To learn more about other participating organizations and their policies, we encourage readers to visit their websites and to contact them directly:

Other activities:

“Dog Days For Summer” is intended to be a fun day for the whole family. While adoption is the main attraction, we hope visitors will make a day of it and enjoy some of the other offerings we have planned.

Live Demonstrations

Rescue Ranch visitors love to watch trainers and dogs showing off their skills. Well, they won’t be disappointed on May 21. Jefferson Working Dogs will demo scent detection, while  Intermountain Mannered Mutts will show cart pulling, game training and training 101.

Emergency Preparedness and Fire Safety

Given that fire season is already upon us, Rescue Ranch will also have plenty of information about fire safety and emergency preparedness on hand. Last year we highlighted fire saftey at our May Day! event, and, sure enough, multiple devastating fires impacted our region. We don’t know what 2022  will bring, but we will have information on hand to help visitors keep their  family and pets safe.

Food

Visitors won’t have to go far for lunch. Tacos Tao has kindly agreed to set up their food truck at the adoption center! That way, hungry attendees be able to purchase delicious Mexican food  and soft drinks right at the event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

So mark your calendars and make sure to come on down to the “Dog Days For Summer” Rescue Ranch adoption event!
