Name: Rumi
Age: 3
Breed: Rottweiler (mix?)
I currently live in Weed (Lake Shastina) California.
About Rumi:
Handsome, smart make Rottie with a tail. Approx. 85 – 90 pounds. Neutered on 4/6/21. Found abandoned in Weaverville in November of 2020. I adopted him on 11/28/20 from the Weaverville shelter. He received his 1-year rabies and DAPPvL2 shots on 2/11/21 along with a
Homeagain microchip. He tested negative for heartworm on 4/6/21.
I have been working on his heel, sit and down. He knows “sit,” “down,” “find it,” “toy” and “bed” as well as visual hand commands for “sit” and “down.” A firm “no” will him back on a heel while walking on a leash. He is an excellent trail dog (as long as not over 70 degrees and sunny, due to his black coat). He has been taught to walk behind his person on narrow hiking trails. He has never had an accident in the house. He is fed in the AM and PM on a regular schedule and does his #1 and #2 business after eating. He seems to respond well to a consistent schedule.
Rumi is a sensitive, anxious fellow who will thrive with an owner/family who can take him to work/supervise him at home and include him as part of the pack. He should be kept inside at night because he does not have the warm undercoat of a typical Rottie. He may do well with older kids but is untested and has the potential to knock people over when excited. A gentle but firm dog parent(s) will be best for Rumi. He is shy at first but once he knows you are his person/people and win his trust, he will bond and be your best buddy! He did well with my older, female Rottie, when they were properly introduced at the shelter. Sadly, she passed unexpectedly in February, from fast-growing cancer. He has since been a solo dog.
