Rescue Pets Make A Splash at Puppy Pool Party and Adoption Event

Last Saturday Rescue Ranch joined Red Dog Pet Supply‘s Puppy Pool Party and Adoption Event in Jacksonville.  It was a great opportunity to start building new relationships with potential adopters.  A good number of visitors came through to meet available pets, and store customers brought their dogs for some cooling water fun. There was handcrafted doggy ice cream, too! The weather was perfect. I caught up with the Rescue Ranch team and then made the rounds.

Rescue Ranch brings adoptable adolescent and adult dogs

The Rescue Ranch team had brought several friendly, exuberant, adolescent puppies. Tails wagging, noses sniffling, they were excited to be on a field trip. Caregivers had their hands full until the pups settled down. Of course, Their over-the-top cuteness was a hit with visitors.

Our amazing adult dogs, Mookie, Guava, Tracker, Carter, and Potter were exceptionally well-behaved. A number of attendees expressed their intention to follow up at the Adoption Center, in Yreka. Team-member Sydney Palmer shared some pictures of Tracker and Carter enjoying the puppy pool party portion of their day.

Other rescues also participated

Four other no-kill rescues and a local dog trainer also joined the puppy pool party event. There were even a couple of adoptions!

Hero Tails Animal Sanctuary

Hero Tails is devoted to rescuing dogs and cats from high-kill shelters and dire-need situations. They had some irresistible kittens and dogs onsite.

Oldies But Goodies Senior Rescue

Oldies also does medical needs and other at-risk cases, like homeless dogs. Although as a home-based organization they do more smalls, they currently have “every age, size, and mix you can imagine.”  Oldies volunteer Julie, founder Donna Jones, and I, commiserated over the high numbers at rescues everywhere: “we’re just doing what we can.”

Melly Cat

Melody Spiegle told me that her cats wouldn’t do well outside with all the excitement, but she had three beautiful spayed and ready to go kitties in the store. The black one was gentle, curious, affectionate, and unimpressed by the lively black and white kitten’s photo-bombing. The third diva had found a cozy, quiet place she wasn’t about to give it up.

Sanctuary One

Sanctuary One had brought dogs, but they do all manner of house pets and farm animals. Here we see a Sanctuary One dog getting a full belly rub from some visitors.

Goliath Mountain Rescue

Victoria Stewart brought a number of gorgeous, laid back, confident huskies. Goliath specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of huskies and German shepherds.

Top Dog Behavior and Training

Skyler Lynch does group, private, and home training. She conducts many of her group classes at Red Dog Pet Supply and has clients from Rogue River to Ashland.

Thanks for the pool party Red Dog Pet Supply!

Red Dog owner Tim Shreeve, his staff, and the house dogs, were welcoming as always. They kindly offered water, sodas, and pizza to all participants. Patricia, the store manager, even brought her recently adopted Rescue Ranch dog, Walt, to visit with the gang.
