Do you need a loveable goofball in your life, that likes to crawl onto your lap for hugs? Do you have an active lifestyle and are looking for an energetic companion? Maybe you like to walk, jog, or run, but want someone that can keep you company, help keep you safe, and/or motivate you to keep going? Oreo is the dog for you!

Oreo was found wandering the streets of Pensacola, FL in July 2022. In particular, he was going to the local park & nearby houses, trying to make friends with the dogs he found along the way. This upset one colorful local, who threatened on social media to shoot Oreo for riling up his dogs. Luckily Oreo was able to be located and rescued from the streets before this could occur.

Oreo is a 60lb male dog and after almost two years of searching, he still hasn’t found his furever home! We think he’s a border collie/staffy mix, but don’t know for sure. He’s about 2 years old (almost 3), but acts like a big puppy, high energy and a total goof. Altered, and UTD on shots. We recently had to move to Grants Pass to help care for a family member with early on-set Alzheimer’s and dementia, so the rescue we were fostering for there gave us the go ahead to bring him along since they had no where for Oreo to go locally in Florida.

Oreo is pretty smart and enjoys puzzle games, but can be a bit hard-headed sometimes. Oreo absolutely loves other dogs and does a good job of adapting his play style to theirs, but has recently lost much of his interest to start the play session, so would need the other dog to initiate. Unknown temperament towards cats & kids, as we don’t have either and aren’t usually able to get out much. Oreo doesn’t like greeting new people through barriers like gates, or fences, or while out on leash, but he is super friendly once inside and off-leash. Everyone at the vet’s office fell in love with him and his hugs! Really needs a home with someone more active that has the time to do more training and burn off his energy. Would make a great exercise partner for someone that wants a little extra piece of mind, or motivation to keep going.
