Sage is a one-year-old treeing walker coonhound with a huge heart and an even bigger love for people. She is happiest when she’s with her person, whether that’s hiking, going for long walks, exploring new places, riding in the car, visiting dog friendly stores, or relaxing at home. She forms deep bonds quickly and wants nothing more than to be included in everyday life.
Sage is wonderful with dogs outside the home and enjoys meeting canine friends, but she thrives in a calm, low-stress household where she isn’t surrounded by constant activity from multiple dogs or cats. She would do best as an only dog or with one calm canine companion, and she needs a cat free home.
Like many young hounds, Sage is still maturing. She has some separation anxiety and house training is still a work in progress. She needs a patient adopter who will continue building her confidence using positive reinforcement. In return, you’ll have an incredibly affectionate, loyal companion who loves her people with her whole heart.
Sage came into my care after spending time in county animal control, to undergo recovery from heartworm treatment. She is now healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention.
This is not an emergency placement. I’m committed to finding her the right lifelong home and will be screening adopters carefully.
