Please consider giving Duke a forever home! He’s such a good boy and only wants love, snuggles, and to please his owner. He is a low maintenance dog. He loves to go for walks and to sleep on the couch or in his crate. He also does great with my 5 cats.
Duke was picked up as a puppy by a local shelter but was lucky to quickly find a forever home. Sadly, because of health reasons, his family surrendered him back to the shelter 5 years later. Due to over crowding at the shelter, Duke was scheduled for euthanasia. I stepped in and agreed to foster him for a few weeks, and I was told he had rescue interest. I also began posting on social media. This was 6 months ago. Unfortunately, I am unable to continue fostering him.
I believe he would be best in a home with adults and older children. He is a little timid with new people at first, but once he warms up after just one or two meetings, he will be your best friend and want to snuggle on the couch with you. My grown sons love him, as does my 16 year old granddaughter who stayed with me for five weeks over the summer, and they became best friends. She was in tears having to say good bye.
Duke has been an inside dog with me. I work a hybrid schedule, both remotely and out of the house 2-3 days a week when he has to be alone for 4-8 hours. He does get anxiety if left outside but after being with me a few weeks and knowing I wasn’t going to abandon him again, he has done well when I have to leave as long as he’s inside. He has never had an accident. It’s surprising how long he can hold it.
Duke is dog tolerant but not dog friendly. He lives with me and my two German Shepherds has been fine with my submissive dog but has had some conflict with dominant dog.
I have come to love Duke very much but was never intending to keep him. Duke needs a home of his own, so he doesn’t have to go back to the shelter where he will be euthanized. Please consider being Duke’s forever family. He very much deserves it.
