Jada is a one-of-a-kind goofy, sweet girl that loves belly rubs and playing tug. She is about 7 years old, weighs about 55 lbs and is a Shar-pei/collie/shepherd mix (as far as we can tell). I work as a mental health provider and Jada has been my co-therapist for the past 5 years and is excellent with adults and grown children. She is now in retirement from being a therapy dog but has a long life ahead of her still. She has a wonderful balance of being able to lounge around when you want a lazy day or will gladly go on a run, hike or ski. She has has even summited Mt. McLoughlin and South Sister!
She is house trained, knows lots of commands (including down, stay, touch, come, roll over, spin, between, speak) and loves learning new tricks (she is very treat motivated!). She also loves to harmonize to the harmonica.
It is with heavy hearts that we are searching for a new loving home for her. We have a 1 year old baby and she has had a difficult time adjusting to him. For his safety and her happiness, we are searching for the right family that can give Jada all the love and attention she needs.
She is in need of a home that has land/yard, no little kids (she would do fine with older children), and an owner who has experience with dogs. Jada is dog selective and has started dog scuffles in the past. She does best with bigger, non-reactive male dogs and has lived most of her life with a male dog companion. She loves playing with other dogs but just needs proper introductions to them. She is leash reactive when on walks and we are always working with her on this. Generally she does well home alone, though during times of change or stress has struggled with separation anxiety and has scratched/chewed the front door.
With patience and consistent training, all of the above mentioned behaviors are trainable/manageable. In return, she will be a loving and joyful companion.
