Long time friends

My story begins in 2019 when I went to Yreka Rescue Ranch to look at dogs. I adopted Layla after putting down my grandmother ‘s dog Molly. It was the last thing I had of my grandmother after she passed away. When I saw Layla that bond and connection was there. She wanted somebody to love her as much as I needed to love me. When they let her out of her crate she gave me all of the hugs and kisses that a person could ask for. They told me she was a perfect dog and didn’t know why she was here. As I was filling out the paperwork they told me she was an escape artist over the years. I’ve had countless of times where she has run away to neighbor’s houses just to get a treat or to see her dog friends. She loves everybody that comes into our house and any dog that I invite over.

In 2024, I decided that Layla needs a friend so I went back to Rescue Ranch to look at dogs. I told him what I wanted in a dog. They brought out a dog named Cypress (now Briar). She was a very timid, anxious and nervous dog. Which I had already known about from her profile. But that was not a deal-breaker for me. I knew that would be easily trained. During the meet and greet with Layla and Briar it was 100% successful. So much so that they were sad to see each other leave. The day we went to go get Briar again. Briar and Layla recognized each other from the original meet and greet. When Briar entered our home she was very nervous, cowering in every direction and hiding. It has been a year since we’ve had Briar and she is now just getting out of that stage with more of our friends and other people that we have in our lives.
