Giving Tuesday: November 29, 2022 (early giving starts Nov. 15)
When you donate to Rescue Ranch on Giving Tuesday this year, you''ll be supporting our life-saving facility in Big Springs: the Rescue Ranch Sanctuary. Watch the video and read below to learn more about how the Sanctuary supports our mission and why we're asking for your support.
About The Sanctuary
Last year, we were given an amazing opportunity to help more dogs. Thanks to the generous support of a fellow nonprofit, Rescue Ranch acquired the use of 150 acres formerly occupied by a horse rescue. With that much space, we knew that if we had the resources to retrofit the installations for dogs, we’d be able to save many more lives.
That was the birth of the Rescue Ranch Sanctuary.
How Does The Sanctuary Save Lives?
Our goal for the Sanctuary is to expand our operation, and support our mission in ways the Adoption Center in Yreka can't. Even at this early stage of development, the Sanctuary serves many life-saving functions by taking in:
- Special needs dogs, such as pregnant and whelping moms, nursing puppies, at-risk dogs who require extra training, "unadoptables," etc.
- Quarantined dogs
- Parvo and other contagious cases
- Adoptables who need a break from the Adoption Center and recent arrivals suffering from "shelter stress"
- Rescue boarders whose transport has been delayed
- Emergency overflow during fire evacuations and other emergencies.
Why Are We Fundraising For The Sanctuary ?
The Sanctuary property is an excellent location and a facility with huge potential for saving more lives and helping more special needs dogs get the care they need. We have space, electrical power, security cameras, Internet, and even facilities for staff to bunk overnight or stay for a while. Most importantly, there’s plenty of water, and there are water points everywhere.
Our main challenge, so far, has been to adapt the facilities for dogs and some of the specialized uses we're planning for the property. It’s a huge, resource- and labor-intensive undertaking. The Sanctuary team has to make efficient use of materials and effective use of space, all while addressing the varied special needs of our dogs and ensuring their safety, comfort, and health.
We still have a ways to go, but we've made great strides over the past few months, thanks to seed money provided by a generous donor. With your help this Giving Tuesday, we'll be able to build on our progress and save many more lives next year.
