Why do Corgis have short legs?

April 6, 2022 by

The Welsh Corgi was originally used by farmers as a herding dog to control sheep and cattle. It’s short legs are the result of a genetic condition called achondroplastic dwarfism. It became a dominant trait through deliberate breeding. After all, if you’re quick and low to the ground, it’s much easier to avoid being kicked by a cow!
