Socialization is essential to your dog’s development and wellbeing

July 16, 2025 by

Many temperament and behavior issues in dogs can be traced back to poor or insufficient socialization. It all starts with their littermates, but it doesn’t stop there. As they get older, they need to (safely) meet other puppies and dogs, as well as humans in different contexts. Play dates and consistent basic training will help build their confidence and teach them to be good citizens. A confident dog is much more likely to respond appropriately in new or unexpected situations.
