Most recent amputee dogs adapt quickly, others need more help to build confidence. Identify any areas where you dog might have to step up or down. Monitor their movements until you know they can get around. If they’re unsure on stairs, encourage them and help keep them steady. You can also try a special harness. Use rugs or matts on smooth floors, and try anti-slip tape on uncarpeted stairs.
