This week, we’re highlighting a dog who deserves a chance to be all she came into this world to be. Toni–like her siblings Reggie, Dilly, Midge, and Ronnie–was born in the Vistas and grew up without much human contact. When she came to us as an older puppy, she had already missed that critical twelve-week window of socialization. Despite this disadvantage, Toni has made amazing progress. We’re happy to announce that she’s ready for a foster home–or, still better, a special adopter. Could you be the one to help Toni blossom into the companion she was always meant to be? Read on!
Lovely Ton-Ton (as she’s affectionately called by the staff) is cautious and standoffish with new people. But she has a gentle heart, and after barking and trying to bluff you, she’ll come up by degrees to take snacks out of your hand. With her observant, intelligent nature, she’ll make a fantastic watchdog. She needs a secure fence to keep her from running off, but she’ll let you know if anything suspicious is going on outside!
Toni enjoys her leashed walks at the Sanctuary, where she’s learned to trust the staff. She’s a silly girl who loves playing with other dogs and splashing in water. She’d thrive with another dog to keep her company, and a confident canine buddy would help her learn how to respond to humans. She’ll definitely need patience as she adjusts to life in a home. But she’s a smart, responsive dog and would progress in leaps and bounds with consistent attention.
