Meet Mabel

Mabel

Could you be Mabel’s angel? This shy lady came to the Ranch after her first rescuer passed away, leaving several dogs. We don’t know anything about her past, but it seems likely that she’s had a rough time of it. Little by little, over the months she’s spent in our care, the sunnier side of her personality has emerged. If she could get away from the stress of a shelter environment, we’re confident that Mabel will bloom like a summer flower. All this sweet soul needs is a real family to give her the life she deserves.

Despite her shyness and timidity when she first arrived, Mabel has always been gentle with staff and volunteers. Nowadays, she walks on leash, takes treats, and accepts petting and cuddles. So far, Mabel is selective with other dogs. She’s tolerated calm males who don’t push her around, but she might prefer to be an only dog. She needs time to warm up to new people, so a calm home without a lot of visitors or excitement would be her cup of tea. Older children who understand how to move quietly around a dog and respect boundaries should be fine.

Mabel isn’t a fussy gal: a shady yard to watch over, a comfortable bed, and an adopter who will help her feel safe, and she’ll count her lucky stars. If this sounds like you, call the Ranch to make an appointment to meet sweet Mabel today!

Walk-ins are welcome, but please check our hours before coming to visit. If you’re coming from a long way to meet a specific dog, we encourage you to call us first to be sure they’re available and on site when you visit. Phone: (530) 842-0829.
