McGyver

McGyver, Rescue Ranch Dog of the Week

Meet McGyver,

We”ll never know why McGyver, a handsome young retriever mix, showed up as a stray at the county shelter, but we’re glad that he’s made his way to Rescue Ranch. Now he has a chance at a better future in a permanent, loving home.

McGyver is an exceptionally beautiful dog. One look at his soulful brown eyes and silky black coat, and we’re sure you’ll agree. He is also a very good boy, naturally attentive and well-mannered–especially for such a young pup. We estimate his age to be just about one year. He already walks well on leash and knows how to pay attention to his handler and also “Sits” for treats. He’s usually polite with other dogs and may do well in a home with other canine family members. But, as always, a meet-and-greet with potential housemates is required to ensure a good fit for everyone.

As with all young dogs, McGyver has plenty of bounce. He will need a large yard where he can run and play ball, as well as long walks, or  runs, to help him burn off extra energy. He’d love to join you on a visit to the beach or for long forest hikes. He might even enjoy a trip to the lake for swimming or fishing! We think McGyver would make an ideal outdoor companion for an active family. Given plenty of exercise, he should do great inside the home as well.

His loyalty, gentleness, and strong desire to please will surely make him an all-around wonderful companion.

If McGyver sounds like the right fit for your family, come on down to the Ranch to meet him today!  Walk-ins are welcome.  If you’re coming from a long way to meet a specific dog, we encourage you to call first: (530) 842-0829.
