Adopt Cleo, Rescue Ranch Dog of the Week

Meet Cleo,

Here at Rescue Ranch we believe that special needs adoptions can be the most memorable of all. As our foster families can tell you, adopting an animal who truly relies on your unconditional love forges a very close bond between dog and caretaker. If you’re hoping to find a dog who will need all the love you can give, we may have just the girl for you.

Cleo is a beautiful nine year old German shepherd who came to the Ranch from a kill shelter in central California. She quickly showed herself to be a spunky older gal who would make a great companion for a senior citizen or calm family. Despite her age, she still has lots of energy and lives life to the full.

So what’s this about special needs? Cleo suffers from a spinal condition known as degenerative myelopathy. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease. All we can do is keep Cleo comfortable for as long as she remains healthy, active and happy. That’s where you come in. Cleo is in foster care but she’s looking for a real home where she can live out her golden years in peace and comfort. We think she would do very well as an only dog in a low-stress home environment.

And there’s so much more to this girl than her limitations! Cleo is extremely friendly with people and very eager for attention. She loves romping, playing, taking walks, and splashing in water. As you can see, despite being technically a “senior,” she’s still quite energetic and playful. We aren’t sure how well housetrained she is,  so crate training is recommended–a doggy door would be a real plus.

We feel confident that Cleo will repay the lucky person who adopts her with unconditional love and gratitude. What do you think? Do you have room in your heart for our special needs girl?  Then please call the Ranch to make an appointment to meet her today.
