The Rescue Ranch Adoption Center is open to the public and currently houses up to 75 available dogs waiting to meet prospective adopters. This is also where dog owners can attend free socialization classes, obtain low-cost vaccinations and microchips, and learn more about how Rescue Ranch helps the community.
The facility's main building first opened its doors in 2008 and is still the nerve center of the property. It contains original indoor kennels, each connected to outdoor runs. With overpopulation reaching epidemic levels in the county, many outdoor kennels have been added over the past two years. Most of the outdoor yards are now also permanently occupied.
Rescue Ranch staff and volunteers clean the kennels and yards daily. In the summer they keep dogs watered and doggie pools full. During the colder months, dogs have access to indoor accommodations or insulated doghouses, depending individual needs.
The exercise yards are used for socialization classes, playgroups, and, if necessary, overflow.

Business hours: open to the public 6 days/week (Thu-Tue) 12-4 p.m. (closed Wed).
An appointment is not necessary during regular business hours, so feel free to stop by and meet the dogs!
An appointment is highly recommended, however, if you'd to see a specific dog(s), especially if you are traveling far. Sometimes a dog might not be onsite because they're on break at the Sanctuary, at an adoption event, or have a vet appointment. Please call (530) 842-0829, or email info@rrdog.org, to set up a time.
Wildfire Evacuation Center
The Adoption Center is also where we typically receive evacuees during wildfire season. In 2021, we took in 224 extra dogs. In 2022 we had a total of 260 evacuees come through our gates. When this happens, many Rescue Ranch dogs go to the Sanctuary to make room for our temporary guests.
