Meet Jax

Jax1

Jax is a goofy, happy five-year-old husky mix with an eye-catching auburn and white coat. This handsome boy came to us from a shelter in Fresno along with a couple of other huskies who were scheduled to be euthanized for space. We were told he was living as a stray before he was impounded. Jax has proved resilient and is now a playful, cheerful dog. He’s been a resident of Rescue Ranch for several months, waiting patiently for his forever family to discover him and take him home.

Like most huskies, Jax has plenty of energy and is happiest out of doors. He would love to take you for hikes, walks, runs, swims, and anything else you can think of involving great open spaces. A little less common for his breed is the fact that Jax is very easy to work with. He already knows how to “Sit” and “Shake” for treats. He’s an affectionate dog and very loving once he has warmed up to you. He’ll even gladly give you hugs and kisses.

Sadly, Jax has already been through a couple of unsuccessful adoptions due to his one real setback: he has severe resource guarding issues surrounding food. Any food-related item, even dirty dishes, can be a trigger. We think this is due to him living on his own as a stray scrounging for food. We believe this behavior can be managed best by someone who is able to give him clear leadership and establish appropriate boundaries, such as keeping him out of the kitchen altogether. It’s even possible that Jax might even be content as a primarily outdoors sort of dog. A securely fenced ranch or yard with several acres to run and play in would be ideal.

Jax would do best in a home without small children. A dog-saavy family who knows how to set and respect boundaries might be best for this loveable boy. Although Jax is dog selective, he can get along with some dogs. He may do well with a female canine companion.

Do you have a niche in your life for Jax to settle down in? Then come on down to the Ranch to meet him today!
