Thumper

Meet Thumper,

Thump… thump… thump…. Is that the sound of Thumper’s tail ? This happy one-year-old shepherd mix has a tail that is always moving. Thumper is a good-natured young fellow who has been waiting at Rescue Ranch for a couple of months now,  hoping to find his forever family. Could it be you?

Thumper is an active, energetic dog-and very handsome too! We suspect he’s part collie (check out that nose). Thumper would absolutely love to find a home with some acreage to run around in, or, at the very least, a large yard. Most of all, Thumper is longing to find someone who needs an intelligent, loyal, loving companion.

Like all young dogs, Thumper needs consistent, calm, positive reinforcement to help him learn appropriate behavior. Training should be a cinch, though, since he is eager to please and naturally attentive. He already knows how to “sit” for treats and he listens to his handler. In quieter moments, Thumper will be happy to lie down at your feet while keeping an eye on the scenery. With a little work, we know he’ll learn to respond well other formal commands and walk politely on leash.

It’s likely that Thumper did not receive a lot of socialization with other dogs when he was a puppy. He needs some guidance to help him interact appropriately with potential playmates. We don’t know his history with cats and due to his energy level we recommend cautious introductions. However, Thumper would probably do well with older children (his exuberance might be a bit much for small kids). Love visiting the lake? Then Thumper’s your boy: he absolutely LOVES playing in the water.

We’re are sure that Thumper will make a wonderful all-around dog for the right family. Does he sound like your perfect match? Then come on down to meet him today!
