Kane

Kane, Rescue Ranch Dog of the Week

Meet Kane,

At 5 years of age, Kane has already led an amazing life! This beautiful German Shepherd is a former military dog who received extensive overseas training in a combat zone. It wasn’t meant to be, though. Kane came back to the States and found his way to Rescue Ranch. Eventually, he was adopted by a wonderful family in Redding, but that didn’t work out either. Kane returned to the ranch, once again.  Of course, we haven’t given up on this wonderful dog. We believe there is a great home out there for him. Could you be that one special person Kane has been waiting for? Read on to find out!

Kane’s ideal adopter is someone who canprovide clear, consistent leadership. Experience with the breed is a plus but not required. What’s more important is the adopter’s willingness to learn to communicate clearly with an exceptionally intelligent dog. Kane is not a dog you just push around. He’s proud, and like many shepherds, he doesn’t appreciate rough handling. Above all, Kane needs structure and a task to perform. He’s a working breed, after all.  He can be willful, but at heart he wants to please his handler.

Kane is a well-trained dog and loves to play in water!

Kane is a regal, classic German shepherd with an alert bearing. He likes people, is naturally attentive, and is very food-motivated. It should come as no surprise that he is very well trained. Even so, we know you will be impressed by the way he can “Sit” and “Shake” for treats. Kane’s favorite pastime is playing in water, and, in the summer, he’s always game to be hosed down. At his previous home, he loved swimming in the pool and never wanted to get out.

Kane has done well with young kids and other dogs in the past, but he requires a cat-free home.  In fact, the property should have secure fencing, not only to keep him safe but to prevent him from hunting the neighborhood felines.

Kane has so much potential. Like all dogs he deserves a great home. If you think you might be the adopter he is looking for, then come on down to the Ranch to meet this special dog today!
