Hounds were bred for hunting and are typically divided into two broad categories. Sighthounds or gazehounds, like borzois and greyhounds, rely on their speed and agility to keep their target in sight. Scent hounds, however, such a beagles and bloodhounds, rely mostly on their sense of smell to track their prey. They’re not as quick as sighthounds, but they have greater endurance and can track over long distances.
