Should my dog wear a coat on our walks?

November 10, 2021 by

Within reason, healthy dogs with thick double coats, like huskies, do well in the snow, rain, and cold. They’re unlikely to require an extra layer when you’re out and about in inclement weather. Thin coated and groomed breeds, older dogs, small dogs, and sick dogs, however, are much more vulnerable. They often need extra protection against the elements. Don’t assume your dog is comfortable. If you’re not sure, ask your vet.
