Meet Riley

Riley 2

If you wish to rescue a dog who will be endlessly grateful for a loving home, you’ve come to the right place! Riley came to the Ranch when his owner became too ill to care for him. Now that she has passed away, he is looking for a quiet home where he can enjoy his golden years in peace and comfort. We think you’ll agree that this calm, affectionate, well-behaved gentleman deserves a second chance at happiness in a new forever home.

Riley would make a wonderful companion for a senior or for any quiet family. All he wants is to be near his person. As long as he can lie by your side, he is undemanding and very easy to care for. Though he’s a big boy at 85 pounds, he’s mellow and easy to handle. While he doesn’t have a lot of energy these days, he can still get around quite well. He can even climb up and down stairs if necessary (he does need a bit of help loading into a car). He is fully house-trained and knows how to use a doggy door. And if you’re looking for someone to keep you motivated on a diet, Riley has gained a few extra pandemic pounds and could stand to lose a little weight.

Despite the upheaval he has gone through, Riley has adjusted very nicely to life in his foster home and seems adaptable and resilient. Understandably, he does get a bit anxious being left alone, but as long as he can see his foster mom, he’s content. He loves his daily walks and playing a slow game of fetch. He also enjoys belly rubs and being the center of attention. And if that’s not enough, Riley is an expert couch cuddler! If you are looking for a dog to share the bed with you, Riley would be more than happy to oblige!

Riley is peaceful with other dogs and would do just fine in a multi-dog household. We don’t know his history with cats, but it is hard to imagine he could do much damage as long as the cat has a place to jump up out of his reach. The only thing we’re not sure about is whether or not Riley is a fan of young kids. We think their energy level might be too much for this quiet gentleman, so we’re recommending a house with older children, just to be on the safe side.

If Riley sounds like the perfect match for your family, make an appointment to meet this wonderful dog today.
