If you are looking for a dog to rescue who can really use some TLC, we’d love for you to meet Onyx. This handsome dog has had a rough life and needs a very soft spot to land. He arrived at the Ranch emaciated and malnourished from an abusive past. Over the year that he’s been in recovery with us, his health has stabilized and he’s achieved a healthy weight. Now he just needs a special family to give him the home he deserves.
Onyx greets staff members with a softly wagging tail and loves to beg for shoulder scritches through his kennel bars. Now that he’s in his senior years, he’s a pretty easy-going guy. He spends much of his time with a Kong toy clamped in his mouth, which he will gladly show you when you visit his kennel. He enjoys his walks and is happy to just hang out, watching people pass by. He’d make a fine guardian for a home and yard, especially if he can keep watch from a comfy bed!
Due to his history, Onyx can be reactive to other dogs. His working on it , but he would probably do best as the only dog in his home. We recently learned that he grew up in a house with cats, however, did well with them. Introductions should be progressive and closely supervised until it is clear the cat is safe.
