Meet Bella

If you are looking to adopt a dog that needs all the TLC you can give, Bella may be just the dog for you. This shy girl is recovering from some pretty severe trauma and needs time and patience to help her come out of her shell.

The brief version of Bella’s story is as follows: After her owner was hospitalized due to health issues, Bella found her way into rescue and eventually made her way to the Ranch. When her owner recovered, he began searching for her and we were able to reunite them. Sadly, he passed away a few months later and Bella was once again homeless. She returned to the Ranch feeling very uncertain about everything and everyone. After spending some time at our sanctuary she is feeling more positive about life. Now she is looking for a special person who can give her the space, time, and affection she needs to build trust in a human relationship.

Bella is still standoffish and reserved with strangers. She was never properly socialized as a puppy and prefers to bond closely with one person and ignore the rest of the world. She has progressed to the point where she will approach and take treats from strangers. But she needs her boundaries to be respected. She only allows herself to be handled and petted when she has fully warmed up to her caregiver. An adult-only household will be best.

Bella enjoys the company of some other dogs, though she is a bit selective. When she’s had a proper introduction with another dog she is quite playful. However, she’d prefer to be the center of attention and might do best as the only dog in the household. She walks well on and off leash, staying close to her handler at all times. She’s a great house dog, polite and fully potty trained. We don’t know her history with cats.

Bella is hoping that her happily-ever-after is right around the corner! If you’d like to meet this sweet girl, call the Ranch to make an appointment today!
